North East based Jacksons Law Firm recently advised Ian and Carol Rae, the new owners of the Coachman Inn, Snainton, when they made the decision to buy the 240 year old establishment.
The commercial property team at the law firm, with assistance from its employment and corporate team, worked closely with Ian and Carol to ensure they moved into their new home and workplace as quickly as possible.
Located in North Yorkshire between Pickering and Scarborough, the property is a beautiful Grade II listed Georgian stone building offers a restaurant, bar and four bedrooms.
Proud new owners, Ian and Carol, moved to this idyllic spot just outside the North Yorkshire National Park having sold Cliffemount Hotel in Runswick Bay which they owned for 11 years. Jacksons also advised on the purchase and sale of the hotel.
Both Ian and Carol have 28 years’ experience of working in the leisure sector, in both Scotland and England, having worked for Camerons of Hartlepool, Stakis, Boddingtons, and Scottish & Newcastle and in the last 18 years owned and managed a 24 bedroomed hotel in Scarborough and more recently, the Cliffemount Hotel in Runswick Bay.
Glaswegian born Ian says, “Having taken over this historic building, we are very keen to keep the traditions observed in the Inn for centuries and hope that sympathetic improvements will only add to the already impressive property. We have been welcomed into the community in Snainton and are seeing visitor numbers, new and returning, increasing on a weekly basis. We’ve even welcomed some familiar faces from our hotel in Runswick Bay who dine in our restaurant, so we must be doing something right. Jane and her team at Jacksons did a great job when we were buying the hotel in Runswick Bay 11 years ago, so it made perfect sense to go back and ask for their advice when we decided to make the move to Snainton”.
Jane Armitage, Managing Partner and Commercial Property Lawyer who advised the Raes on the purchase and sale of Cliffemount and the purchase of Coachman says, “We’ve known Ian and Carol for the last 11 years and have built up a great relationship with them going back to the purchase of their hotel in Runswick Bay. With Ian’s culinary skills and Carol’s management experience we are very confident the Coachman Inn will be a huge success. I’m personally looking forward to driving out to the Yorkshire moors and stopping off at the Inn for a spot of lunch or dinner”.
