The decision of the Supreme Court last month in the case of R (on the application of Unison) v Lord Chancellor [2017] UKSC 51 to abolish Employment Tribunal fees has the potential to change the landscape in employment law; we are, in principle, back in the position that existed prior to July 2013. It is envisaged that there will be a ‘spike’ in claims being issued, not only in connection with recent or ongoing matters but from disaffected employees who left employment some time ago and are now reviewing whether they will be able to bring claims ‘out of time’ by contending that the fee system unreasonably denied then access to justice.
Now, significantly more so than in recent years, it is essential that employers make arrangements for representation and support from a specialist and trusted employment law practice. The employment law solicitors who provide the Jacksons Employment Tribunal Representation service have in excess of 50 years’ experience of litigation in the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal across the UK. We have a successful track-record of representing businesses in a wide variety of sectors, both public and private. Our clients are both regional and national. They range from PLCs to high-street name businesses, to SMEs and OMBs.
Every member of the team that provides the Jacksons Employment Tribunal Representation service is a solicitor-advocate, who will benefit from the detailed knowledge and consistency of approach that comes with involvement in your case from the outset. At Jacksons we pass on that benefit to you in the conduct of your matter before the Tribunal. You will establish a relationship of trust with your advocate from regular meetings during the Tribunal process. In our experience this is also invaluable for both client witnesses and advocate when the case comes to be heard in Tribunal, or during any negotiation process that may take place prior to the commencement of the hearing.
Our expertise is supported by our ability to offer a highly cost-effective insurance option to cover the cost of legal fees, awards of compensation and settlements.
