1.Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Jonathan Wall and I am a partner and Head of Residential Property at the firm. I am mainly based out of our Stockton on Tees office but do from time to time work out of our Newcastle office.
2.Where did you go to school/uni?
I grew up and went to school in the northern Durham area, attending school in Lanchester. I went to University in Liverpool where I studied law and went on to complete the LPC before becoming a solicitor.
3. What brought you to Teesside and Jacksons in particular?
I arrived at Jacksons Law Firm having completed my training contract at another local Teesside firm. I have worked at another two firms in the area and felt that the size and reputation that Jacksons held locally was something I wanted to become involved with. During the time of me joining I did hold a number of job offers but at that moment in time I felt that Jacksons was the best fit for me and where I wanted to take my career.
4. What do you do to support the local community?
I strongly believe in trying to retain and keep talented people within the locality of our offices and pride myself on the time and effort I spend and take with members of staff to train then and hopefully enable them to grow into the next steps of their career in the area. I also try and spend as much time and money with local businesses to help keep the economy growing in the area.
5. What projects have you been involved with which you are most proud to be associated with?
I have been involved in a number of projects during my first three and a half years with Jacksons but I am most proud of taking over and managing the team throughout the last twelve months. I took over the full time management of the full property team in June last year, at the height of the Covid pandemic, in what was a very difficult market. Whilst the market has been buoyed by the stamp duty holiday, I am extremely proud of the massive growth we have achieved over the last twelve months, but more importantly in the team ethic we have produced. We have managed to employ the right people in the right places and now have a forward thinking, dynamic team able to carry out the work we do to a high standard for our clients.
6. What do you do to keep in touch with the business community in the area?
We regularly keep in touch with other businesses in the area via all methods of communication. Myself and a few members of my team play golf with a number of others in the property industry and we also regularly visit those whom we work with (when covid rules allow – so sometimes Zoom) to ensure we keep a personal touch to how we deal with things. In normal times we also hold webinars and seminars.
7. What have you done to support staff at Jacksons during the last few months when they have been working from home?
As a team we have ensured we have kept in touch with one another. It is important to show that we are here for one another in these times and communication and support are a key area of my role to ensure that all people in the team are comfortable and their wellbeing is taken care of.
8. Sum up why Jacksons is a great place to work in one sentence.
