Katy specialises in all private family matters including divorce, financial issues upon separation including cohabitee disputes, child arrangements and protecting wealth including pre and post nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements.

Katy is a member of Resolution and an accredited specialist in providing advice on financial matters including pension issues following separation.  Katy is based in the firm’s Teesside office.

Katy said, “I joined Jacksons as it is a progressive and highly recognised firm focusing on the needs and requirements of its clients. Over the next few months, I am looking forward to building on what is already a successful family team and continuing to make positive contributions to the lives of our clients through, what can be, an extremely difficult period in their lives.”

Christine McVay joins Jacksons as a Consultant after spending six years as a partner with Short Richardson & Forth. She boasts 26 years as a family solicitor, although she has been handling family cases for almost 30 years.

A native of the north east, Christine has been at the forefront of handling many highly complex and high-profile cases involving celebrities, members of the Bar and Judiciary and has acted for a number of Lottery and Euro Millions winners. Her cases have regularly involved assets of well over £100 million.

Christine’s extensive expertise in financial remedy cases means that she has, for many years, worked closely with forensic accountants, tax experts and pension actuaries.

Christine said, “Jacksons is a highly experienced, multi-disciplined firm.  It has an excellent reputation for providing great client care and that was important to me when I was making the decision on my next move.”

Christine is a Resolution Accredited Mediator and has lectured in Family Law at South Tyneside College.  She is based in the firm’s Newcastle office.

Emma Canham, who has worked at Jacksons since 2017, has been promoted to Associate Solicitor.  She has been recognised for her hard work and dedication to the firm and her clients during a particularly challenging time.  Emma is based in the firm’s Newcastle office.

Tony Wentworth, Managing Partner said, “Jacksons is committed to career development for every member of its staff and believes in growing its own talent pool.  It is important to reward those in the firm who are making a difference, including Emma who has demonstrated that she is up to the job.

Tony continues, “Both Katy and Christine bring with them a wealth of experience in Family law that will support the overall plans for the growth of the firm and we are delighted that they are now part of the Jacksons’ team. “
