Solicitor Apprenticeships at Jacksons
Our application window for our 2025 apprenticeship opportunities is now closed.
Jacksons Law Firm is pleased to offer Solicitor Apprenticeships.
About the Role
This training route will enable you to work towards becoming a qualified Solicitor, without the need to complete an undergraduate degree first.
Throughout the six-and-a-half-year course, you will undertake the Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship programme with the Firm’s chosen learning provider (ideally the University of Teesside or the University of Law), which will include obtaining your undergraduate Law degree.
You will complete all the required theoretical and practical learning with the university, before sitting both Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQEs) in years five and six.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you will be employed by Jacksons and will spend four days a week working within the firm, with the other day spent attending the university or studying remotely. There will be elements of the programme that require ‘block delivery’ and study leave will be provided to enable this.
Over the duration of the apprenticeship, you will be placed in different departments across the firm including both personal and business areas of law. You will gain valuable experience and knowledge in one of the longest established and respected firms in the North East, working alongside expert lawyers in their respective fields.
You will be involved in all areas of practice, from administrative work to complex legal cases, with a view to managing your own clients and caseload. This practical experience will help you to build on your knowledge and aid you in your studies.
You will be supervised throughout the apprenticeship and will be assigned a supervisor and mentor to support and guide you. The firm has three other Solicitor Apprentices, so you will also be able to benefit from their support and experience.
If you would like more ‘insider’ information, one of our Solicitor Apprentices has written an article on his experience which can be found at https://www.jacksons-law.com/jacksons-blog/solicitor-apprentice-reflects-on-first-few-years/
Requirements
To be considered for our solicitor apprenticeship opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- 5 GCSEs, including Maths & English at Grade 4 or above or equivalent
- 3 A Levels (or equivalent) at Grade C or above
- Be available to commence the apprenticeship in September 2025
It is also vital that you have a keen interest in law and aspire to qualify as a solicitor. The apprenticeship is hands-on and requires dedication and commitment; you should therefore be hard-working and ambitious. We are also seeking some core skills including teamwork, critical thinking, and professionalism.
Please note that this role is not suitable for university graduates.
