This week I asked Solicitor Angie Papprill, from our Dispute Resolution team, to talk about Dementia Friends after their recent visit to Jacksons’ Teesside office.
Here’s what she has to say…..
Jacksons would like to extend a big thank you to Brian Rowcroft of Dementia Friends for the Dementia Awareness and Training Session he provide to us on 22 February. Having met Brian at a Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind Event in January, it was clear that Brian is very passionate about the subject and he offered to provide us with an in-house training session.
Initially, we expected the session would be of benefit to the solicitors in our Probate Department, but there was a lot of interest from other members of our team, both for personal and professional reasons. The session was therefore opened up to the all of our staff to attend.
Brian provided an informal and informative presentation for us. The feedback from the session has been very positive. We hope to be able to implement what we have learned and to ensure that we are better prepared to understand, assist and support those living with Dementia and their carers. Jacksons are proud to be a Dementia Friendly firm and we would encourage other local businesses to find out more.
Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer Society Initiative, set up to encourage people to learn more about the condition and to try and strive towards building a more understanding and compassionate community, for those living with the condition or affected by it.
