And I thought August was meant to be quiet…………….

Posted on 5th August, 2016

Katharine Ayris and Louisa Bestford - August 16 - resizedWe are always told that traditionally, August is meant to be quiet with everyone taking their summer holidays but this week at Jacksons we have been bucking the trend. Yes, the roads are quieter – I got to Newcastle in under an hour for a 9am start this week which is unheard of but otherwise there doesn’t seem to have been a spare moment.

There was more good news for Jackson Law Firm this week when we announced new appointments and growth in our private client teams. We are delighted that solicitor Louisa Bestford has joined our family team having moved to Newcastle from the north west where she had practised as family lawyer for 4 years and Katharine Ayris has joined our wills, trust and probate team as an associate based in our Newcastle office. Katharine has 13 years of experience in her field acting, in particular, for high net worth clients and we are sure that she and Louisa will be valuable additions to our teams enabling us to provide even more high quality specialist legal advice to clients. In our wills, trusts and probate team we have also promoted Helen Milburn to associate. Helen, who is based in the Stockton office, started her life at Jacksons as a work experience student before becoming a trainee, assistant solicitor and now associate. It is very rewarding for us to see the Jacksons “academy” producing its stars of the future.

Added to this we have new appointments in Karen Prudhoe and Lisa Harding as paralegals in our residential property teams in Newcastle and Stockton respectively. Karen and Lisa have already shown us they are great team players and we are enjoying working with them both.

All this growth means we are busier than ever supporting our clients.  To to help keep the swan gliding over the water, while we paddle hard beneath the surface, we will be welcoming Lorraine Heathwaite next week as a new office administrator.

This week my colleague John Bewick and I visited Newcastle’s latest venue – The Secret Tower which is definitely a hidden gem. We are going to be hosting a new breakfast club from there in the autumn. More details to follow in next week’s blog so you will have to keep reading to find out what is happening but we are really excited!

Finally, this week the partners of Jacksons and their partners got together for a barbecue. Amazingly it was a warm, balmy evening. In the rough and tumble of the working week it is very easy to forget that, not only are your partners people you have chosen to go into business with, and to work alongside, but that they are people whose company you enjoy and so it was lovely to spend a few hours in social conversation over a glass or two of pimms. It made me think that, not only is it important to work hard at the relationships we have with our clients, referrers and staff but also with each other, so it was a very positive way to bring the week to an end.
