At the end of National Apprenticeship Week there is really only one person to talk to at Jacksons, our apprentice Chloe. In this week’s blog she tells us why she decided to do an apprenticeship and what she is learning. That is, of course, only half of the story because what we are gaining is a new and enthusiastic member of staff who is learning new things every day and helping us provide the excellent client service we pride ourselves on. We hope that we have found ourselves an employee for the future. As you can see from Chloe’s answers, which are completely her own words, she is bright and articulate and an asset for our business.
Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?
I decided to apply for an apprenticeship in business administration because it was a great way to learn and earn money at the same. I think you learn a lot more when you’re working in a business environment.
What attracted you about doing your apprenticeship at a law firm?
I was attracted to working in a Law Firm because that’s what I could see myself liking the most. I know by working for a Law Firm I would improve my skill set and the company would offer good career progression creating a successful future for me.

What have you learnt so far?
I have learnt about the different departments that are involved in Law e.g. (Conveyancing, Probate, and Litigation etc). I have been taught how a Law Firm runs successfully and why everybody’s role is important to the firm. I have also developed a lot of customer service skills, strong telephone manner skills, IT skills and working as a team in a large office.
What would you like to do when you have completed your apprenticeship?
I would like to stay with the firm and hopefully progress to a Legal Secretary.
What is your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of the job is working with friendly people, it makes working here more enjoyable. I also love that each day is different and not repetitive therefore it doesn’t get boring.
What do you like least about your job?
It is very unlikely that this ever occurs but I dislike when it is not busy, however at the firm it is always easy to find something to do.
